
Surgeon Aytun AKTAN is a gynecologist and obstetrician. Born in Ankara, she graduated from high school with honors. She graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Medicine in 1999. She completed her specialty at Ankara University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in January 2005. In the same year, she was awarded the Ministry of Health’s In Vitro Fertilization Certificate. She specializes on the issues of infertility and IVF, and has also published a book on the subject.
Following her stint at Ankara Gen-Art IVF Center between 2005-2006, she has continued her professional career in Istanbul.
From 2006 until 2016, she served at Bahçeci Healthcare Group’s various overseas and domestic health centers: In Baku, Azerbaijan, she worked as the head of the gyneocology department and director of the IVF Center at the Central Clinic Hospital between 2007 and 2008. She held office for varying durations at the Group’s IVF Centers in Erbil, Cyprus and Bosnia. From 2010 until 2016, during her stint at Fulya Bahçeci IVF Center, she not only delivered infertility and IVF treatment, but also provided very intensive pregnancy follow-up and delivered babies. Furthermore, she also focused on patients with problems such as polycystic ovary syndrome, endometriosis and vaginismus. She penned a large number of articles on these issues as well.

She completed all the courses by IRCAD, which is considered to be an international authority in closed surgery training, and received a certificate on gynecological laparoscopy. She worked as an observer with Prof. Arnoud Wattiez in Strasbourg, participated actively in his regular laparoscopy courses in Turkey which have been going on for five years, and participated in surgical operations. She has been performing gynecological endoscopic surgery for many years.
Surgeon Aytun Aktan coauthored the book ‘It Wasn’t a Stork that Brought Me’ with Prof. Mustafa Bahçeci. Written in colloquial language, the book is very popular among patients as it provides comprehensive and reliable information on in vitro fertilization.
Surgeon Aytun Aktan penned columns on healthcare for various newspapers. Since November 2015, she has been writing a blog for an online newspaper.
From 2013 until 2015, Surgeon Aktan served as a moderator at the live-broadcast healthcare program dubbed ‘Young Doctors’ on the TV channel KRT (initially Karadeniz TV, later Kültür TV). She also passed an exam by the Ankara Art Theater and received drama training for a period of one year.
Also a well-known athlete, Dr. Aktan is a registered volleyball player and runs marathons. She participated in numerous half marathons, marathons and ultra mountain marathons, in order to collect donations for NGOs.
With a view to providing top-quality medical care to her patients, she has founded her independent clinic in September 2016.
